Which Facial Is Right for My Skin?
A clear, simple guide to understanding which type of facial best supports your current skin, goals, lifestyle, and tolerance level.
TL;DR
There is no single “best” facial. The right treatment depends on your current skin, your goals, and your tolerance level. At Prism & Shear, you book time for a facial, and I customize the plan after a full assessment instead of forcing you to guess from a long menu.
What Type of Facial Is Best for Your Skin?
People ask this all the time: “Which facial should I get?” The honest answer is that two people with the same concern can still need very different treatments. That’s why I don’t rely on rigid labels.
Instead, you book a facial appointment, and we decide what happens inside that time based on what your skin needs that day.
What I Look At Before Choosing Your Treatment
During your appointment, I start with a conversation and a hands-on assessment. I look at:
- How hydrated or dehydrated your skin feels
- Barrier strength and sensitivity
- Texture, congestion, and pore buildup
- Oil flow and shine patterns
- Redness, irritation, or razor-related issues
- Your lifestyle, stress level, and routine
From there, I choose the professional exfoliation approach, serums, masks, and massage techniques that are appropriate for your skin in that moment.
Focus Areas We Might Work On
Rather than locking you into a “type” of facial, your appointment is built around one or more focus areas:
Hydration & Moisture Support
If your skin feels tight, dull, or uncomfortable, we focus on replenishing water and supporting your barrier so your skin feels calmer and more flexible.
Clarifying & Congestion Support
If you’re dealing with bumps, clogged pores, or shine patterns, we focus on thorough cleansing, controlled exfoliation, and supporting clearer texture.
Tone, Brightness & Overall Glow
If your concern is dullness or uneven tone, we focus on smoothing the surface and supporting a more even-looking finish without overworking your barrier.
Sensitivity & Barrier Support
If your skin reacts easily or stays red and irritated, the priority is calming, cooling, and strengthening before we push intensity.
How to Choose on the Booking Page
If you are unsure which option to choose:
- Pick the option that gives us enough time to work (not the shortest one).
- Add a note that you want help choosing the best focus for your skin.
- We’ll confirm the plan together at the start of your appointment.
You do not need to memorize treatment names. Your job is to show up with honest skin and clear goals. My job is to build the treatment around that.
