Which Facial Is Right for My Skin?
A clear, simple guide to understanding which type of facial best supports your current skin, goals, lifestyle, and tolerance level.

There is no single “best” facial. The right treatment depends on your current skin, your goals, and your tolerance level. At Prism & Shear, you book time for a facial, and I customize the treatment after a full assessment instead of forcing you to guess from a long menu.
People ask this all the time: “Which facial should I get?” The honest answer is that two people with the same concern can still need very different treatments. That’s why I don’t rely on a one-size-fits-all facial menu.
Instead, you book a facial appointment, and we decide what happens inside that time based on what your skin needs that day.
During your appointment, I always start with a conversation and a hands-on assessment. I look at:
From there, I choose the professional exfoliants, serums, masks, and massage techniques that are appropriate for your skin in that moment.
Rather than locking you into a rigid “type” of facial, I adjust your treatment around one or more of these focus areas:
If your skin feels tight, dull, or uncomfortable, we focus on replenishing water and supporting your barrier so your skin feels more flexible and calm.
If you’re dealing with bumps, clogged pores, or oil flow issues, we work on gentle but thorough cleansing, controlled exfoliation, and supporting clearer texture.
If your concern is dullness or uneven tone, we focus on smoothing the surface, gently encouraging cell turnover, and supporting a healthier, more even look.
If your skin reacts easily, feels hot, or is often irritated, the priority is calming, cooling, and strengthening—not pushing your skin with aggressive actives.
On the booking page, you’ll see facial options with their own descriptions and timing. If you are unsure which one to choose:
You do not need to know your exact “skin type” or memorize treatment names. Your job is to show up with honest skin and clear goals. My job is to build the facial around that.
If you are new to facials, start with How to Prepare for a Facial, What to Expect After a Facial, and How Often Should I Get a Facial?.
If you feel stuck, that is a sign you don’t need to figure this out alone. That’s exactly what a professional treatment is for.
You can explore the current facial options and book directly on the Skincare Treatments page. Choose the option that feels closest, and we’ll fine-tune everything once you’re in the studio.
